ABSTRACT

Objetivo: analisar a associação entre felicidade no trabalho, interação familiar e variáveis sociodemográficas/profissionais em enfermeiros do contexto hospitalar. Métodos: estudo transversal com amostra de conveniência de 363 enfermeiros. Foram aplicados questionário para caracterização sociodemográfica/profissional, Shorted Happiness at Work Scale e Survey Work-Home Interaction Nijmegen. Na análise e tratamento de dados, recorreu-se à estatística descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: observaram-se níveis moderados de felicidade no trabalho (4,44±1,15) e níveis moderados a baixos de interação familiar (1,02±0,31). Estado civil, atividades de lazer, local de trabalho, tempo de experiência profissional, categoria profissional, horário de trabalho e percepção de trabalho estressante associaram-se à felicidade no trabalho. Idade, sexo, filhos, dependentes, atividades de lazer, tempo de experiência profissional, horário de trabalho e percepção de trabalho estressante associaram-se à interação familiar. Conclusão: os enfermeiros apresentaram níveis moderados de felicidade no trabalho e moderados a baixos de interação familiar, associados a variáveis sociodemográficas e profissionais específicas.


Objective: to analyze the association among happiness at work, family interaction and sociodemographic/professional variables in nurses in the hospital context. Methods: cross-sectional study with a convenience sample of 363 nurses. Questionnaires for sociodemographic/professional characterization, Shorted Happiness at Work Scale and Survey Work-Home Interaction Nijmegen were applied. In data analysis and processing, descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Results: moderate levels of happiness at work (4.44±1.15) and moderate to low levels of family interaction (1.02±0.31) were observed. Marital status, leisure activities, place of work, length of professional experience, professional category, working hours and perception of stressful work were associated with happiness at work. Age, gender, children, dependents, leisure activities, length of professional experience, working hours and perception of stressful work were associated with family interaction. Conclusion: nurses showed moderate levels of happiness at work and moderate to low levels of family interaction, associated with specific sociodemographic and professional variables.

El estado civil, las actividades de ocio, el lugar de trabajo, la duración de la experiencia profesional, la categoría profesional, la jornada laboral y la percepción de trabajo estresante se asociaron con la felicidad en el trabajo. La edad, el sexo, los hijos, las personas dependientes, las actividades de ocio, la duración de la experiencia profesional, la jornada laboral y la percepción del trabajo estresante se asociaron con la interacción familiar. Conclusión: los enfermeros mostraron niveles moderados de felicidad en el trabajo y niveles moderados a bajos de interacción familiar, asociados a variables sociodemográficas y profesionales específicas.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objective: To develop and validate the content of the Nurses' Work Methods Assessment Scale. Methods: Methodological study conducted between January and February 2022, based on the Quality Standards for Nursing Care and Imogene King's framework. A literature review was previously undertaken to design the scale. The content validation was carried out by 23 experts. Results: The initial version consisted of 40 items organized in four work methods identified in the literature. In the first dimension, from ten items, seven were considered, and one was reformulated. Seven of the initial ten items were considered in the second version. The third dimension consisted of seven items. In the fourth dimension, three items were reformulated, and three were excluded, leaving seven items. The final version ended with 28 items, whose Content Validity Index ranged between 0.83 and 1. Conclusions: The involvement of experts has become pivotal in the development and validation of the items, providing confidence to the continuity of psychometric procedures.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Construir y validar contenido de Escala de Evaluación de Métodos de Trabajo de Enfermeros. Métodos: Estudio metodológico realizado entre enero y febrero de 2022, basado en Estándares de Calidad de Atención de Enfermeríay referencial de Imogene King. Para construcción de Escala, realizado previamente revisión de literatura. La validez de contenido contó con 23 peritos. Resultados: La versión inicial contenía 40 items, organizados en cuatro métodos de trabajo identificados en la literatura. La primera dimensión, de diez items, fueron considerados siete y uno fue reformulado. La segunda, de diez iniciales, fueron considerados siete. La tercera dimensión constituída por siete ítems. La cuarta dimensión, reformulados tres y excluidos tres, quedando siete. La versión final quedó con 28 items, cuyo Índice de Validez de Contenido osciló entre 0,83 y 1. Conclusiones: Recorrer a peritos volvió fundamental en la construcción y validez de los items, confiriendo seguridad a continuidad de procedimientos psicométricos.

Métodos: Estudo metodológico realizado entre janeiro e fevereiro de 2022, baseado nos Padrões de Qualidade dos Cuidados de Enfermagem e no referencial de Imogene King. Para construção da Escala, realizou-se previamente revisão de literatura. A validação de conteúdo contou com 23 peritos. Resultados: A versão inicial continha 40 itens, organizados nos quatro métodos de trabalho identificados na literatura. Na primeira dimensão, dos dez itens, foram considerados sete e um foi reformulado. Na segunda, dos dez iniciais, foram considerados sete. A terceira dimensão constituiu-se por sete itens. Na quarta dimensão, reformularam-se três e excluíram-se três, ficando sete. A versão final ficou com 28 itens, cujo Índice de Validade de Conteúdo oscilou entre 0,83 e 1. Conclusões: Recorrer aos peritos tornou-se fundamental na construção e validação dos itens, conferindo segurança à continuidade dos procedimentos psicométricos.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To understand the current situation of male nurses in Dalian area and explore its future development direction.Methods:From August to September in 2020, 189 male nurses who had been engaged in clinical nursing for more than one year in 29 hospitals in Dalian were selected by convenient sampling method, and they were investigated by questionnaire. SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical analysis. The counting data were described by rate or constituent ratio. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the important factors influencing male nurses′ willingness to change profession.Results:A total of 189 male nurses were investigated, 137 of them were under 30 years old, accounting for 72.5%. They had high education background and low professional title, mainly concentrated in ICU, operation room and emergency department of public owned 3A or 3B hospitals, with a monthly income of 3 000 to 8 000 yuan. 33 nurses(17.5%) chose nursing profession because they couldn′t change careers by profession adjustment. 135 nurses (71.4%) considered that work pressure was high. 70 nurses (37.0%) had the idea of changing careers. The main influencing factors included:nursing career was not in accordance with individual interest, dislike of female boss, low income. The prominent problem in nursing career was "inconvenience in gender""the confusion of self-positioning".Conclusions:The hospital should improve the income of male nurses, reduce the work pressure, establish magnetic hospital, establish career planning for them, and expand the team of male nurses. Male nurses should take the initiative to improve their professional ability and professional title, so as to provide necessary conditions for the realization of nursing managers, educators, researchers and other professional goals.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore the reasons for men to choose nursing as a profession in Turkey and their experiences in the profession from their perspectives. This is a qualitative study. The study sample consisted of male nurses working in a private hospital and in a public hospital of Ministry of Health in Turkey. The data were collected using a semi- structured in-depth interview questionnaire prepared based on literature. The study sample consisted of 11 male nurses. We used thematic analysis to analyse the data. Male nurses reported that the primary reason why they choose nursing as a career was job security. Male nurses also reported that especially female patients had negative perceptions and attitudes towards them and occasionally female patients refused to get health care services from them due to social norms. They were preferred in strength-related tasks rather than in care-related tasks

Objective:To explore the mediating effect of perceived organizational support on the relationship between personality traits and perceived self-efficacy of male nurses.Methods:A total of 766 male nurses from 20 level-A general hospitals in Shandong province were selected by convenience sampling method in December 2020. The general status questionnaire, the simplified version of Big Five Personality Inventory, the Perceived Organizational Support Scale and the General Self-efficacy Scale were used to investigate them.Results:The total score and average item score of 766 male nurses' sense of organizational support was 44.05±9.31, 3.38±0.72, and the total score and average item score of general self-efficacy was 26.19±5.65, 2.62±0.57. In 766 male nurses, perceived organizational support had a partial mediating effect on neuroticism and openness, with effect values of 21.71% and 10.19%, respectively. In addition, perceived organizational support had a complete mediating effect on conscientiousness and self-efficacy.Conclusions:The organizational support and self-efficacy of 766 male nurses were above average, and organizational support played a mediating role in the relationship between neuroticism, openness, conscientiousness and general self-efficacy.Nursing managers should give more organizational support to male nurses to change the influence of neuroticism, responsibility, agreeableness and open personality traits on self-efficacy, so as to improve the level of self-efficacy of male nurses.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify feelings, experiences, and expectations of kidney transplant patients, generated from the diagnosis of chronic renal disease until the post-transplant period, highlighting the challenges for nurses to incorporate individualized care to cope throughout the disease process. Methods: qualitative, descriptive research, carried with seven kidney transplant patients, in the city of Manaus, State of Amazonas. The data analysis followed the methodological referential of Bardin's content analysis. Results: the diagnosis of the disease was experienced negatively, and hemodialysis was described as an imprisonment and health decline. The transplant meant an improvement in quality of life. The main difficulties were lack of a specialized hospital and low immunity. Conclusions: the nurses' approach of chronic renal patient and with the renal transplantation favored the discovery of solutions facing the demands of the disease and allowed greater capacity to implement individualized care, surrounding a relationship of trust and respect.


RESUMEN Objetivos: identificar sentimientos, experiencias y expectativas de individuos renales trasplantados, generados desde el diagnóstico de enfermedad renal crónica hasta el postrasplante, destacando los desafíos para el enfermero en la incorporación de cuidados individualizados de enfrentamiento durante el proceso de la enfermedad. Métodos: investigación cualitativa, descriptiva, con siete trasplantados renales, en Manaus, Amazonas. El análisis de los datos siguió el referencial metodológico del análisis de contenido de Bardin. Resultados: el diagnóstico de la enfermedad ha vivido de forma negativa, y la hemodiálisis ha sido descripta como reclusión y declive. El trasplante significó mejora de la calidad de vida. Las principales dificultades fueron falta de hospital especializado y baja inmunidad. Conclusiones: el acercamiento del enfermero con el enfermo renal crónico y con el trasplantado renal favorece el encuentro de soluciones delante las exigencias de la enfermedad y le permite mayor capacidad para implementar cuidados individualizados, en una relación de confianza y respecto.

Métodos: pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, realizada com sete transplantados renais, na cidade de Manaus, Amazonas. A análise dos dados seguiu o referencial metodológico da análise de conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: o diagnóstico da doença foi vivenciado de forma negativa, e a hemodiálise foi descrita como aprisionamento e declínio. O transplante significou melhora da qualidade de vida. As principais dificuldades foram falta de hospital especializado e baixa imunidade. Conclusões: a aproximação do enfermeiro com o doente renal crônico e com o transplantado renal favorece o encontro de soluções diante das exigências da doença e permite-lhe maior capacidade para implementar cuidados individualizados, envoltos em uma relação de confiança e respeito.

ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the nurse entrepreneur experience in long term institutions for elderly (LTIE) and to elaborate a theorical model regarding that experience process. Methods: Qualitative research with theorical saturation, through analysis of the 10th nondirective interview, audio-recorded and transcribed, according to the Grounded Theory, with nurses in activity and those who had to quit the business. Results: Three subprocesses emerged: (A) looking at the LTIE as a promising business to offer to the aging population; (B) discovering herself/himself without entrepreneur training/experience to carry on a social enterprise; (C) changing from preservation, expansion, and finally business discontinuance. The core category (process) was abstracted from the realignment of those subprocesses components: From the dream to expansion, preservation, and business abandonment: nurse training/experience for social enterprise as an intervening component. Final considerations: In light of the Business Model Canvas, it showed the experiential process little instrumented by the fundamentals of business management, to support the proposal, overview and altering business.


RESUMEN Objetivos: Comprender la experiencia del enfermero emprendedor con institución de larga permanencia de ancianos (ILPI) y elaborar modelo teórico de eso proceso de vivencia. Métodos: Investigación cualitativa con saturación teórica, mediante el análisis de la 10ª entrevista no directiva, audiograbada y transcripta, segundo la Teoría Fundamentada en los Datos, con enfermeros en actividades y renunciantes del negocio. Resultados: Emergieron tres subprocesos: (A) vislumbrando en la ILPI negocio prometedor con el envejecimiento poblacional; (B) descubriéndose sin formación/experiencia empresarial para el emprendimiento social; (C) moviéndose entre la manutención, la ampliación y la desistencia del negocio. Del realineamiento de los componentes de esos subprocesos, se abstrajo la categoría central (proceso): Del sueño a la ampliación, manutención y desistencia del negocio ILPI: formación/experiencia empresarial del enfermero para emprendimiento social como componente intermedio. Consideraciones finales: A la luz del Modelo de Negocios Canvas, se mostró proceso experiencial poco instrumentalizado por los fundamentos de la gestión empresarial, para apoyar en la proposición, visualización y alteración de negocios.


RESUMO Objetivos: Compreender a experiência do enfermeiro empreendedor com instituição de longa permanência de idosos (ILPI) e elaborar modelo teórico desse processo de vivência. Métodos: Pesquisa qualitativa com saturação teórica, mediante a análise da 10ª entrevista não diretiva, audiogravada e transcrita, segundo a Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados, com enfermeiros em atividades e desistentes do negócio. Resultados: Emergiram três subprocessos: (A) vislumbrando na ILPI negócio promissor com o envelhecimento populacional; (B) descobrindo-se sem formação/experiência empresarial para o empreendimento social; (C) movendo-se entre a manutenção, a ampliação e a desistência do negócio. Do realinhamento dos componentes desses subprocessos, abstraiu-se a categoria central (processo): Do sonho à ampliação, manutenção e desistência do negócio ILPI: formação/experiência empresarial do enfermeiro para empreendimento social como componente interveniente. Considerações finais: À luz do Modelo de Negócios Canvas, mostrou-se processo experiencial pouco instrumentalizado pelos fundamentos da gestão empresarial, para apoiar na proposição, visualização e alteração de negócios.

ABSTRACT

RESUMO Objetivo: identificar os fatores relacionados à satisfação com a residência entre residentes da área da saúde. Método: estudo transversal desenvolvido com 134 residentes do sul do Brasil, utilizando um questionário para caracterização e aspectos relacionados à satisfação com a residência. Os dados foram analisados por estatística descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: os residentes demonstraram-se mais satisfeitos no relacionamento com seus colegas e menos satisfeitos quanto às oportunidades de lazer, sono e repouso. Estiveram relacionados à satisfação com a residência o relacionamento com colegas no trabalho (p=0,037), com o docente/preceptor responsável pela residência (p=0,005), poder expressar suas opiniões (p<0,001), a autonomia para realizar as atividades da residência (p=0,008) e a motivação e ânimo no trabalho (p<0,001). Conclusão: estratégias precisam ser implementadas para melhorar a qualidade de vida e o bem-estar dos residentes e, por consequência, melhorar a assistência aos pacientes.


RESUMEN Objetivo: identificar los factores relacionados a la satisfacción con la residencia entre residentes del área de la salud. Método: estudio trasversal que se desarrolló con 134 residentes del sur de Brasil, por medio de un cuestionario para caracterización y aspectos asociados a la satisfacción con la residencia. El análisis de los datos se hizo por estadística descriptiva y por inferencia. Resultados: los residentes se mostraron más satisfechos en la relación con sus compañeros y menos satisfechos acerca de las oportunidades de ocio, sueño y descanso. Se asocian a la satisfacción con la residencia la relación con compañeros en el trabajo (p=0,037), con el docente/preceptor responsable por la residencia (p=0,005), poder expresar sus opiniones (p<0,001), la autonomía para realizar las actividades de la residencia (p=0,008) y la motivación y ánimo en el trabajo (p<0,001). Conclusión: se necesita implementar estrategias para mejorar la calidad de vida y el bienestar de los residentes y, por consecuencia, mejorar la asistencia a los pacientes.


ABSTRACT Objective: To identify the factors related to satisfaction with the residency program among residents in professional health care. Method: Cross-sectional study with 134 residents of southern Brazil that used a questionnaire for characterization and aspects related to satisfaction with the residency program. ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the reality of nurses of Project HOPE and discuss the repercussion of their performance in relation to the reconfiguration of nursing in Alagoas State. Method: social-historical study, whose primary sources were documents filed in the Laboratory of Documentation and Research in History of Nursing, granted by this project; oral testimonies resulting from the transcription of interviews of US nurses and the VeNeta Masson's'logbook, coordinator nurse of the ship. The discussion of the data was based on Pierre Bourdieu's theory. The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee and approved by it. Results: The actions of the American nurses exposed the shortage of this type of professional in the area, as well as the precarious health conditions in the region. Conclusion: the symbolic capital of these nurses has contributed to the reconfiguration of the nursing field in Alagoas State.


RESUMEN Objetivo: describir las circunstancias de actuación de las enfermeras del proyecto HOPE y discutir las repercusiones de la actuación de esas enfermeras en relación a la reconfiguración de la enfermería del estado de Alagoas, Brasil. Método: el estudio histórico-social, cuyas fuentes primarias fueron documentos archivados en el Laboratorio de Documentación e Investigación en Historia de la Enfermería, documentos cedidos por el proyecto HOPE, testimonios orales resultantes de la transcripción de entrevistas de enfermeras norteamericanas y el diario de a bordo de la enfermera VeNeta Masson, coordinadora de enfermería del buque. La discusión de los datos tuvo como referencia la teoría de Pierre Bourdieu. El proyecto fue sometido al Comité de Ética y fue aprobado. Resultados: las acciones de las enfermeras norteamericanas expusieron la escasez de ese tipo de profesional en el área, así como las precarias condiciones de salud en la región. Conclusión: el capital simbólico de esas enfermeras contribuyó a la reconfiguración del campo de la enfermería en Alagoas.

Método: estudo histórico-social, cujas fontes primárias foram documentos arquivados no Laboratório de Documentação e Pesquisa em História da Enfermagem, documentos cedidos pelo projeto HOPE, depoimentos orais resultantes da transcrição de entrevistas de enfermeiras norte-americanas e o diário de bordo da enfermeira VeNeta Masson, coordenadora de enfermagem do navio. A discussão dos dados teve como referencial a teoria de Pierre Bourdieu. O projeto foi submetido ao Comitê de Ética e foi aprovado. Resultados: as ações das enfermeiras norte-americanas expuseram a escassez desse tipo de profissional na área, bem como as precárias condições de saúde na região. Conclusão: o capital simbólico dessas enfermeiras contribuiu para a reconfiguração do campo da enfermagem em Alagoas.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to examine and share experiences of male nurses who have been rejected during their nursing practice by their patients. METHODS: The participants were 12 male nurses who have worked in several hospitals. Data were collected through personalized in-depth interviews. Collected data were analyzed with the content analysis method. RESULTS: The results can be categorized into three main themes. 1. Rejection based on gender stereotypes of nurses' roles. 2. Nurses' reactions when nursing was rejected 3. Reestablishing the role as a nurse. The results of this study showed that male nurses were struggling to maintain their own positions as professional nurses. They were refused by their patients and they experienced a lack of skill and knowledge in nursing practice. They were harmed physically and psychologically from being turned down, and sometimes they had serious conflicts with female nurses. Meanwhile, the male nurses tried to be faithful to their role as professional nurses. CONCLUSION: The results of this study show the following findings. 1. The male nurses' experiences where mostly ones of understanding and cooperation with patients' caregivers. 2. The need for public relations advertising and systematic support from the media. 3. The need for improving gender equality for nurses. 4. Strengthening male nursing students' endeavors for sound nursing professionalism.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This study aimed to explore and describe the school life experience of male nursing students reinstated at school after military service. METHODS: The participants in the current study were 20 male nursing students from three universities. The data were collected in focus group interviews, and an inductive content analysis was performed on the data obtained from six focus groups. RESULTS: The content relating to the school experience of the participants was categorized into four themes: making a new start, facing challenges, trying to find one's place, and confusion about one's professional identity. CONCLUSION: Nursing education in Korea needs to be reconsidered, as it adheres to a gender-stereotyped identity. This study provides implications for improving the content and quality of nursing education.

Objective To explore the effect of employee assistance program on male nurses' professional values and professional identity.Methods Fifty male nurses participated in the program by group counseling and individual counseling.The professional values scale (NPVS-R) and the occupational identity scale were used to investigate the changes in their professional values and occupational identity before and after the intervention.Result After intervention,the occupational values and occupational identity of male nurses were significantly better than before intervention (P<0.01).Conclusion The employee assistance program for male nurses can promote the formation of positive professional values and professional identity sense.

ABSTRACT

Background: The cultural norms of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia do not encourage men to choose nursing as a career. Understanding male nursing students' experiences of their clinical exposure to the nursing profession throughout their internship might increase their retention. This study explored the experiences of final-year male nursing students as they transitioned to the role of registered nurse. Methods: A qualitative descriptive research design with an inductive content-analysis approach was used. The experiences of 22 final-year male nursing students from three public hospitals in a major city of Saudi Arabia were explored. The data were collected using focus-group interviews and documentary analysis in March 2015 and May 2015. Results: Content analysis revealed three major themes: the societal and cultural image of male nurses, male students' engagement in nursing practice, and restructuring the internship programmes' policies to suit male students' needs. Conclusion: The findings reveal issues that mainly stem from negative social views of nursing as a male profession. Considering the students' social and cultural needs during their internship programme will facilitate their transition into the role of registered nurse and their retention in the nursing profession.

ABSTRACT

Trata-se de estudo exploratório descritivo com objetivo de descrever o padrão de consumo de álcool entre enfermeiros e suas implicações para o trabalho em saúde. A pesquisa foi realizada em outubro de 2015, em cincobases eletrônicas de dados. Após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, a amostra final resultou em seis publicações. Os estudos selecionados mostraram que o consumo de bebidas alcoólicas por profissionais de enfermagemestava presente, de forma preocupante, em todas as pesquisas analisadas. Os resultados mostraram que há prevalência de profissionais de enfermagem com problemas relacionados ao consumo abusivo de álcool, em alguns menos e em outros mais acentuados. Observou-se que o trabalho noturno, longas jornadas de trabalho e carga horária semanal elevada demonstraram relação positiva com o consumo de álcool. Além disso, estresse, depressão, ansiedade e insatisfação com o trabalho foram apontados como fatores de risco para o abuso de álcool nos estudos (AU).


Descriptive and exploratory study aimed to describe the patterns of alcohol use among nurses and its effects on healthcare. The study was conducted in October 2015, with the search of five electronic databases. After implementation of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample consisted of six publications. The selected publications showed that alcohol use by nursing professionals is a matter of concern, since there is a prevalence of nursing professionals with less or more severe problems related to alcohol use. Night work, long working hours and excessive weekly workloads were positively correlated to alcohol use. In addition, stress, depression, anxiety and dissatisfaction with work were reported as risk factors for excessive drinking in the studies (au).


Estudio exploratorio descriptivo cuyo objetivo fue describir el modelo de consumo de alcohol entre enfermeros y sus implicaciones para el trabajo en salud. La investigación fue realizada en octubre de 2015, en cinco bases electrónicas de datos. Despues de la aplicación de los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, la muestra final resultó en seis publicaciones. Los estudios seleccionados mostraron que el consumo de bebidas alcohólicas por profesionales de enfermería fue constante, de modo preocupante, en todas las investigaciones analizadas. Los resultados revelaron prevalencia de profesionales de enfermería con problemas relacionados al consumo abusivo de alcohol, algunos menos y otros más acentuados. Se observó que el trabajo nocturno, largas jornadas de trabajo y carga horaria semanal elevada presentaron relación con el consumo de alcohol. Además, estrés, depresión, ansiedad e insatisfacción con el trabajo fueron apuntados como factores de riesgo para el abuso de alcohol en los estudios (AU).

ResumoEm consonância com o Editorial "Como explicar a baixa penetração da diálise peritoneal no Brasil" publicado em 2014 no Jornal Brasileiro de Nefrologia, escrito pelo Professor Hugo Abensur,1 mostramos os resultados de um estudo denominado "Avaliação do conhecimento sobre terapia renal substitutiva dos profissionais de saúde nas microrregiões de Juiz de Fora, São João Nepomuceno e Santos Dumont" (Aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética da UFJF CAAE: 23659213.8.0000.5147 e financiado pela FAPEMIG sob número APQ 03626-12).Objetivo:Avaliar o conhecimento sobre TRS dos profissionais de saúde das microrregiões de Juiz de Fora, São João Nepomuceno e Santos Dumont.Métodos:Estudo transversal no período de abril de 2014 a abril de 2015. A população estudada foi de profissionais de saúde (médicos, enfermeiros e técnicos de enfermagem) que trabalhavam nas unidades de pronto atendimento (UPA) e atenção primária à saúde (UAPS). Os profissionais de saúde foram entrevistados com o uso de um questionário semiestruturado, baseado em um caso clínico de uma paciente com diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus, Hipertensão Arterial e Doença Renal Crônica que evoluiu com piora da função renal, de uma creatinina de 1,8 mg/dL para 12 mg/dL e com diferentes perguntas conforme trabalhasse na UAPS ou UPA e categoria profissional e nele continha uma questão qualitativa.Resultados:Foram entrevistados 75 profissionais de 8 municípios, sendo 26,7% médicos, 32% enfermeiros e 41,3% técnicos de enfermagem. A idade média foi de 38 anos. Destes, 70,7% trabalhavam em UAPS e 29,3% em UPA. Tanto na UPA quanto na UAPS a frequência referida de atendimento de casos semelhantes ficou entre uma vez por mês e uma vez a cada três meses. A maioria encaminharia o paciente para unidade hospitalar e indicaria TRS. A TRS mais indicada pelos médicos é a HD (> 90% dos casos) e menos de 10% indicariam DP como primeira escolha. A associação de "creatinina" e função renal" é adequada em mais de 90% das respostas, a despeito de não haver associação da mesma com nível de filtração glomerular, quando esta pergunta é feita. Mais de 90% dos profissionais não médicos desejam realizar treinamento/capacitação em nefrologia/TRS.Conclusão:Observamos que a maioria dos profissionais não indicam diálise peritoneal, principalmente profissionais médicos, tanto das UAPS quanto das UPAs; 90% destes indicaram HD. Sobre enfermeiros e técnicos de enfermagem das UAPS, 52,1% indicaram HD e 9,4% DP. Aqueles da UPA 41,6% indicaram HD e 26,6% DP. Concluímos que uma minoria dos profissionais de saúde indicaria DP como primeira escolha e, na questão qualitativa referem frequente déficit de "conhecimento na área", estão interessados em realizar treinamento/capacitação.


AbstractIn line with the Editorial "How to explain the low penetration of peritoneal dialysis in Brazil," published in 2014 in the Brazilian Journal of Nephrology written by Professor Hugo Abensur, we show the results of a study "Assessment of knowledge on renal replacement therapy in the health workers of the regions: Juiz de Fora, São João Nepomuceno e Santos Dumont "(Approved by the Ethics Committee of UFJF CAAE: 23659213.8.0000.5147 and funded by FAPEMIG under APQ number 03626-12). We conducted a study with theObjective:to evaluate the knowledge of RRT for the health professionals of Juiz de Fora, São João Nepomuceno e Santos Dumont.Methods:A Cross-sectional study from April 2014 to April 2015 with the population of health professionals (doctors, nurses and nursing assistance) who worked in the emergency units (EU) and primary health care (PHC) . Health professionals were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire, based on a clinical case of a patient diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease who developed worsening renal function; initially presented creatinine 1.8 mg/dL and evaluated to 12 mg/dL. Different questions did made for professional category.Results:We interviewed 75 professionals from 8 municipalities, 26.7% physicians, 32% nurses and 41.3% of nurse assistance. A mean age was 38 years. Of these 70.7% were working in PHC and 29.3% in EU. Both the EU as in PHC, the frequency of cases care was similar between once a month, once every three months. Most would forward the patient to hospital and indicate RRT. The RRT is most suitable for physicians was HD (> 90% of cases) and less than 10% as first choice indicate was PD. The association of "creatinine" and "renal function" is appropriate in over 90% of respondents, despite no association with the same level of glomerular filtration when this question is asked. More than 90% of non-medical professionals wish to conduct education/training in nephrology/RRT.Conclusion:We observed that most professionals do not indicate peritoneal dialysis, especially medical professionals from EU or PHC; 90% of them indicated HD. On nurses from PHC 52.1% indicated HD and 9.4% DP. Those EU, 41.6% indicated HD and 26.6% PD. We conclude that minority health professionals indicate PD as first choice and the qualitative question often refer deficit "knowledge in the area" and are interested in conducting training/capacity building.

Objective We sought to learn the cognition and attitude of doctors,nurses,patients and patients' family members for male nurses and compare the differences in nursing skills between men and women in order to provide basic information and a basis for further improving the quality of hospital care and promote the comprehensive development of nursing disciplines.Methods Some doctors,female nurses,patients and their family members of patients from the five top hospitals were randomly selected as research subjects to investigate the cognitive attitudes towards male nurses.50 male nurses from the five top hospitals were randomly selected,then 50 female nurses with the same academic level and specialty were selected as the control group,and nursing skills were compared between the two groups.Results This study investigated a total of 304 doctors,522 female nurses,258 patients,176 patients' family members.The cognition attitude to male nurses by doctors,female nurses,patients and their families showed statistically significant differences.Emergency department,operating room,intensive care unit were four departments which were considered to be in great need of male nurses.The differences were statistically significant between men and women nurses in scores of aseptic technique,intravenous infusion operation,suction operation,single unarmed CPR skills.Pearson correlation analysis was conducted between education,working years and scores and total score of four operation skills,the results showed that working life was correlated with aseptic technique score of female nurses,the correlation coefficient was 0.409,the scores of the remaining skills did not showed correlation with education and working years yet.Conclusions Doctors,female nurses,patients and patients' families showed a certain degree of acceptance and positive attitude to male nurses.Male nurses showed advantages in the emergency department,operating room,intensive care unit and other nursing post.Male and female nurses demonstrated the same level of basic nursing skills.

Objective To study the correlation of perceived social support and job burnout with subjective well-being of male nurses.Methods 122 nurses were selected from three large hospitals of Yantai and Weihai region,including 61 male and 61 female nurses,perceived social support scale,job burnout scale and subjective well-being scale were used for investigation.The correlation of perceived social support and job burnout with subjective well-being of male nurses was analyzed.Results Male nurse' occupation self-efficacy score as well as perceived social support score were significantly lower than those of female nurses.The three dimensions of job burnout of male nurses were negatively correlated with subjective well-being and perceived social support,perceived social support and subjective well-being.Perceived social support was positively correlated with subjective well-being.Job burnout and perceived social support could predict subjective well-being.Conclusions The social support and job burnout have a large impact on subjective well-being of male nurses.

ABSTRACT

La homofobia significa un terror irracional e injustificado hacia a los homosexuales y la homosexualidad. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, a un grupo determinado de hombres del municipio de Pinar del Río con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre la homofobia en cuanto a los enfermeros homosexuales, durante el segundo trimestre del año 2009. El universo estuvo constituido por 147 hombres del municipio de Pinar del Río, a los cuales se le aplicó una encuesta, la muestra fue de 100 hombres seleccionados por el método estadístico al azar simple, lo que indica que se encuesto el 68,02%, obteniéndose los siguientes resultados, el 100% de los encuestados si conocen que es la homofobia, el 77% de los encuestados si sienten rechazo por los homosexuales, la totalidad de los encuestados no consideran que todos los enfermeros sean homosexuales, un 29% consideran que el trabajo de los enfermeros homosexuales es mejor, y el 70% de los encuestados opinan que la mayoría de los enfermeros que optan por su profesión tienen orientación por personas de su mismo sexo.


Homophobia means an irrational and unjustified fear to homosexuals and homosexuality. A descriptive study was conducted to a determined group of men in Pinar del Rio municipality. This research was aimed at reflecting on homophobia regarding male homosexual nurses during the second quarter of 2009. The target group included 147 men in Pinar del Rio municipality, this group was polled. The sample was comprised of 100 men chosen at a simple random, which indicated that 68, 02% were surveyed, results showed that: 100% knew what homophobia was, 77% felt aversion to homosexuals, the totality of those polled did not consider all male nurses were homosexuals, 29% considered male homosexual nurses performed their job better, and 70% expressed the opinion that the majority of the male choosing nursing profession experience same-sex attraction.
